First Steps ED would not be as successful as it is without your help.
Volunteers
We are always happy to hear from people who are looking to make a positive contribution with or without lived experience of mental health difficulties. If you’re over 16 and have time and passion to spare, check out some of our opportunities below. All volunteers are trained and may need to have a DBS check, as well as attend our accredited-CPD training (all costs are covered by the charity.)
Experienced Staff
We always need compassionate people who are keen to join our award-winning team to help us continue to deliver exceptional care.
If you have experience working with or supporting people with eating disorders and/ or mental health difficulties as either a professional or volunteer, and have a good understanding of the pathways and services, then please get in touch. You can also scroll further down this page to review our latest vacancies.
Current opportunities
First Steps ED and Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust’s, Community Eating Disorders Service are partners who both provide care for those in Derbyshire with Eating Disorders. We are currently seeking to recruit a Peer Support Worker (PSW). This role has been developed specifically for individuals who have lived experience of an eating disorder.
First Steps ED are looking for a passionate and empathetic Senior Befriending Coordinator to join our team and help make a difference in the lives of those we support. First Steps ED provide person-centred support to our service users for a range of disordered eating and eating disorder presentations.
Our person-centred, service user led approach to mental health is a big part of the reason we decided to launch our blog space, so if you have something to say, a story to tell or advice to share, you’ve come to the right place.
