First Steps ED is a multi-award winning, quality assured eating disorder charity.

We work across the UK, providing care and support for children and their families, young people and adults affected by eating difficulties and disorders.

Founded on experience

First Steps ED is a registered charity, founded on the lived experiences of individuals who have had, are living with, or are in recovery from eating disorders and mental health conditions. We are proudly commissioned by NHS organisations and supported by funders whose aims align with our mission, to provide hope, choice, and support to anyone affected by eating disorders.

Early intervention and prevention

Our early intervention and prevention services are designed by people with lived experience of eating disorders and related mental health challenges.

We offer non-clinical, community-based support that complements NHS and Public Health services, helping individuals and families access the right help at the right time, before things reach crisis point.

Where we work

First Steps ED works in partnership with the NHS, Universities, and more to deliver free, funded services across the Midlands and Home Counties, including Derbyshire, Birmingham and Solihull, Coventry and Warwickshire, Hertfordshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Rutland, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, and Wiltshire (including Bath and North East Somerset).

Make a referral to determine if your area is funded. If not, you will be referred to our national Private Practice.
