Our person-centred, service user led approach to mental health is a big part of the reason we decided to launch our blog space, so if you have something to say, a story to tell or advice to share, you’ve come to the right place.

We’re proud to support and offer a platform for individuals who are ready to share their stories and talk about their experiences. We are passionate about creating community which is inclusive, empathic, understanding and non-judgmental. Together we can offer hope to lives affected by eating disorders and help remove the stigma that surrounds mental health conditions. Let’s get writing!

We want to give everyone an opportunity to share stories and discuss important topics around mental health and eating disorders. If you or a loved one are or have been affected by an eating disorder you’re welcome to contribute.

We hope that our blog space can be an extension of the support we offer and help us continue to provide hope, opportunity and choices to lives affected by eating disorders. Recovery can be difficult, with people often feeling isolated and alone in how they are feeling.

If you are sharing your own story, it is important to be honest about your journey and experiences, whilst thinking of those who might read it – what might be helpful to them and their own journey?

We’re also happy to publish creative pieces, such as poetry and discussion pieces around research and news relating to mental health and eating disorders.

There are some things we can’t publish in this space, so please be mindful when you are sharing your stories. Consider what could be triggering to those who are struggling at the moment, such as specific number around weight or measurements, diets or habits that played a role in your illness, or any in-depth descriptions or explanations of distressing experiences or behaviours.

Unfortunately, if your blog mentions something which could be triggering or distressing, we won’t be able to share it. If you’re unsure about your blog post or article, the team will be happy to discuss this with you.

Please aim for between 500 and 1500 words. If your post is significantly below or above the advised word count, we may ask you to edit your blog to fit within these guidelines.

Getting it published…

Please send us your blog and preferred title, ideally as a Word document. If you have a featured image for your piece, these should be landscape rather than portrait. It is important you attach these as high-quality JPGs or PNGs, unfortunately if the imagery you share with us is not a great quality, we may replace these before we publish. Remember that certain images can be triggering, such as before/after pictures, and we will not be able to publish these. If you’re not sure about a picture, let us know.

Please include how you would like to be identified, including if you prefer to remain anonymous. If relevant, you can also share with us any relevant social media tags you would like us to share, plus an author image.

We read all blogs to make sure they are a good fit for our audience, as well as proofread for spelling and grammar. If we’d like to publish your blog but feel some edits are necessary, someone from our team will be in touch before your post goes live.

Writing about your recovery is a very personal experience and your feelings can change. If you no longer feel comfortable having your blog on our website, we can take it down or anonymise it.
