Sasha Bipin

  • Provide peer support and groups to EDISS at both Nottingham Universities.
  • Deliver Intensive Community Support (ICS) in Partnership with the NHS Derbyshire Eating Disorders Service.
  • To raise awareness and understanding of Eating Disorders.

Sasha has a background in Psychology as she has completed both her Undergraduate and Master’s degrees in this field.  During her undergraduate degree, Sasha was very interested in the subject of eating behaviours and body image which led her onto volunteering with the Eating Disorders in Student Services (EDISS), as provided by First Steps.

Here, Sasha gained invaluable experience of supporting students with eating difficulties/disorders. Following her Master’s degree, Sasha worked as a Research Assistant on the Hungry for Words project based at the University of Nottingham, which focuses on Anorexia Nervosa in males. From this, Sasha gained a larger understanding of males’ experiences of eating disorders and the difficulties that boys and men can sometimes face.

Sasha is eager and excited to work with First Steps to continue supporting people experiencing eating disorders and to reduce the stigma and discrimination surrounding mental health issues.
