First Steps recognises the importance of research and its impact on eating disorders knowledge and services.
We value working alongside researchers both professional and students in education. Within previous research projects we have helped to recruit researchers a variety of participants including our staff, volunteers, carers and service users.
We work with a range of academic and NHS partners to advance the practice and standards of eating disorders support and services to individuals and families in the home and across communities and remain active partners with:
- University of Nottingham, Faculty of Health Humanities – and Hungry for Words an interdisciplinary approach to male anorexia
- Sheffield University, Academic Unit of Medical Primary Care working together on an alternative GP questionnaire to SCOFF
- University of Derby, Allied Health and Social Care – student placements for nurses, psychology and counselling
If you would like to be involved in research, secure a student placement, or would like to share your experience with others to encourage their involvement, and become a blogger for us then please contact First Steps via e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org, or call on: 01332 367571.
