Pip’s Place: Next Steps
Continuing a legacy of Hope and Support
Pip McManus sadly took her own life in 2015 when she was just 15 years old. She had spent her last three years fighting Anorexia Nervosa, malnutrition, depression, and self-harm.
Ten years after her passing, her compassion continues to shape the work we do at First Steps ED.
Pip wanted to make a difference for others affected by eating difficulties, and Pip’s Place: Next Steps carries that intention forward by offering a supportive community for people who have moved on from specialist services or are living with a longer-term illness while still needing a steady place to turn.

Pip’s Place Online

For many people with long-standing eating difficulties, life after clinical care can feel isolating. Even when treatment ends, the need for steady support often remains.
Pip’s Place: Next Steps fills this gap. The online group runs every other Tuesday from 17:00 to 18:00 and is led by a qualified specialist therapist, supported by senior members of our team with professional training in eating disorder support.
The group is for adults and offers a calm, validating space where people can talk, listen, and feel connected.
“We don’t want Pip’s life and suffering to have been in vain. Whenever she was able, she tried to help others suffering from similar conditions and we are hoping to continue her good work through Pip’s Place Online.”
Pip’s Place: Next Steps
We’ve created a brand new service to continue Pip’s legacy.
Next Steps is a Guided Self-help group offering professional support to people with long-standing eating disorders, and provides hope for those who have been stepped down or discharged from specialist clinical care.
Facilitated by those who have been there, we aim to fill a gap in care provision for eating disorders and provide an accessible online space for those looking for support and community.
